BACKGROUND.
My interest in Antique Silver began as a teenager. I used to attend the local Auction Houses and became impressed with the understanding that the Silver Dealers had for objects and prices. It was the search for this knowledge of Antique Silver and the wish to learn the value of silver items that drove me to become an Antique Silver Dealer.

EXPERIENCE.
I have spent the last 40 years searching for this knowledge and it has been an exciting and exhilarating experience. The cut and thrust of the Antique Silver Auctions; rubbing shoulders with several generations of Antique Silver Dealers. I now feel a bit like the Antique Silver Dealers who first impressed me as a teenager. The pupil has now become the master. Over the last 15 years I have been selling only to Antique Silver Dealers. This experience has taught me the importance of understanding the value of a piece of silver. Many of the items I have sold, have been exhibited at major Antique Fairs throughout the Country.

FUTURE.
From this Web Site I can offer items of Antique Silver to Collectors and Antique Silver Dealers alike. All prospective customers will be treated in the same way.

STOCK.
The selection of items in the Gallery will include: Georgian Sterling Silver, early Britannia Silver, Collectors items. Items of Antique Silver will be mainly from the 1700s, with some Collectors Silver from the early 1800s. Occasionally I will include Silver from the Art & Crafts period, and designer Silver Plate. From time to time I will include Scottish Silver, Irish Silver and pieces by Hester Bateman, Paul Storr, Nathaniel Mills and other well known makers.

CONDITION.
The majority of items will have been in use for several hundred years. These would be handled by servants, taken in and out of cupboards, washed, polished. Inevitably some pieces would have suffered some dents, bruising, and would have required running repairs from the Silversmith. All of which is perfectly acceptable as long as the work simply reinstated the original condition. However,other damage caused by abuse, tears, splits, removals of engravings, holes, replacement of major parts, re-working, would not be acceptable. I do not stock “as new" silver items. Items will have signs of use in keeping and in character with their status of Antique Silver.

SATISFACTION.
I will make every attempt to photograph and describe items as accurately as possible but I am not infallible and an omission or an error may occur.
